Piranha - abstract wood sculpture
"Piranha" is a striking piece. The colors and texture of the wood are amazing. The wood came from our property here in Vermont. When I harvested it, it was covered with deadwood and moss. I cleaned it up and sanded away the old gray wood to uncover this outstanding colored heartwood and bark. The sculpture is an intricate display of movement, color, luminosity, and texture. My job was to uncover the beauty within, and it is indeed a beauty. I call it "Piranha" because it looks like the South American fish that has a reputation as a fearsome predator.
If desired, we can mount this sculpture on a rectangular cherrywood base. It can also be hung on a wall or displayed on an acrylic stand as shown.
